GATE
The Myford Elementary GATE Program provides gifted and talented students with an instructional program and setting that meets their unique educational needs. While our educational program recognizes that children have a full range of potential, research shows that some students have unique characteristics, requiring some modifications to the regular classroom program in order for them to reach their fullest potential. The Myford Elementary Gifted and Talented Education Program provides students with a differentiated core curriculum that is designed to provide depth and complexity in thinking, as well as opportunities for acceleration and in-depth research, while nurturing their social and emotional well being.
GATE students are clustered into groups and receive a differentiated curriculum that is challenging and appropriate for their advanced levels of thinking. GATE cluster teachers are trained to use a variety of teaching strategies, and each school plans opportunities for gifted students to develop and enhance their skills. Identified GATE students are provided ample opportunities to receive a variety of appropriately differentiated learning experiences in the general education classroom to extend learning. Cluster programs are designed to meet and exceed the District and State standards.
