PAL COLLECTION FOR EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS

Turkey and Syria suffered a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake on February 6, 2023. Thousands of people lost their lives and thousands more have been injured and displaced.  Myford PAL would like to give back and need your help:

WHEN:  February 27-March 3
WHERE: Collection boxes in the front office
WHAT:  We are collecting NEW sleeping bags, blankets, baby formula, diapers, and jackets.

SPIRIT DAY - READ ACROSS AMERICA PAJAMA DAY

We love spending time reading and can’t wait for Read Across America Day on March 2!  Get your PJs on and curl up with a good book!

TALENT SHOW

We will continue our amazing virtual talent show but will also be inviting some students to perform in a live show.   Start practicing your talent and get ready to record it!  Students will have 90 seconds to show off their talent.  Last year we saw unique talents such as magic, time-lapse drawing, and ice-skating as well as traditional music, dance, and singing acts.  

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
* Acts must be 90 seconds or less.
* Acts must demonstrate that the students have practiced and the submission is their final performance.  Do not submit a “draft” of the performance. 
* Videos MUST be recorded horizontally or will be returned for resubmission.  
* Remove visual and noise distractions in the background.  Excessive distractions will be returned for resubmission.
* You can submit ONE act for the talent show.
* IF THIS IS A GROUP:  Choose ONE person as the point person, but list all members.
* If you are selected to be a part of the live show, your children must be available for the dress rehearsal on Wednesday, March 8, from 1:45-3:00

DUE:  February 28 by 4:30 - no exceptions

Don’t forget to start collecting your change to participate in the upcoming Coin Challenge and to visit our bookfair online!  

We really need the help of our parents to put on a successful bookfair, please sign up to volunteer! 

Mark your calendars! Our Spring Book Fair is coming up  - March 13th-17th, the same week as parent teacher conferences! We will also be hosting the Coin Challenge again from March 6-10th so start collecting your loose change - the classroom to raise the most will win a prize!

SURVEYS

You will be receiving an email from TUSD asking for your input in our annual LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan) survey.  Please make sure to take a few minutes to provide valuable insight as a parent in TUSD.  The results will help us better understand the needs of our students and how we can improve their educational experience.

Once you have completed the survey, please have your child come to the office to let us know!  They will receive a GOLDEN PAWS Ticket when they do.

ENROLLMENT OPEN NOW

Enrollment for new students opens January 30.  Make sure to indicate 2023-2024 when you complete the form so you child will the in the correct grade when Aeries rolls students over for the new year.

Absences must be reported in the morning (before 8:30) every day a child misses school. Please give the student’s name, teacher's name, and the reason for the absence.

BIRTHDAY BOOK CLUB

In honor of your child’s birthday, you may wish to donate a book to our school library.  Birthday book donations help our library maintain a high level of engaging and up-to-date books for all our students to enjoy. There are multiple ways to donate a book to the library.  See attached flyer for options.  Your child’s name will be placed inside the book as a thank you, their picture will be displayed in the school hallway outside the library for all to appreciate and your child will be the 1st to check out that book!

Don’t forget that Myford is a uniform school and students are expected to be in uniforms or Myford SpiritWear Mondays-Thursdays. Friday is a Free-Dress Day and we have lots of other Spirit Days throughout the year. Students who are not in uniform may be offered loaner clothes from the office.
