ME Be Uniquely You! Myford Elementary with silhouette of children

Myford Elementary is a public TK-5 elementary school located in Irvine, California within the Tustin Unified School District. Our school is home to roughly 500 students who speak over 20 languages.  We are proud of the diversity of our families and seek to engage all parents in the educational environment.

Our school mission, “Maximizing student learning and social responsibility with high expectations for all” highlights the unique characteristics of each student while building a strong academic and social-emotional foundation.

Our academic program includes a Balanced Literacy approach to reading and writing, in which student voice and choice is a foundational component.  In addition, our math textbook, along with a Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) approach to math, and a science curriculum that engages students with the Next Generation Science Standards and is supplemented by hands-on activities through the MakerSpace and TECH lab, all emphasize a student-centered model of instruction. Technology is implemented throughout all instructional components through the use of iPads and laptops.

Myford also believes in creating a strong foundation for social responsibility. Student groups such a Student Council, PAL, TECHsperts, Utility Crew, FRIENDS Club, and Robotics Club allow 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students to take on a leadership role as a Myford Mentor. Under the guidance of our Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) team, students are taught specific strategies to “Be Brave, Be Kind, Be AwesoME!”
